I have already found many items wrong with using SlideRocket to do your presentation.  One thing is that it has the ability to freeze up quickly and often on you.  I was getting very frustrated on this site that I was close to switching to a different technology.  When you add sound, say you want a song to play throughout the whole Presentation, you are not able too.  All you are able to do is add sound just too each slide individually.  So basically for a 30 day free trial, all you are receiving is a 30 day subscription to Microsoft Powerpoint.  You are able to add different animations, motion animations that you cannot add with Powerpoint, but these items are so large, large as in file size large that your computer will run very slow, I consider myself to have a pretty good computer and once you add Sounds, Pictures, Animations, slide Transitions, your computer can barely run.  I had to close everything and forced the computer to run on it's highest settings for it to even run sort of smoothly.  Still very choppy and not worth the 30 day free trial!!  Sliderocket runs on an adobe format so if you don't have adobe then you cannot run this program.  For business with long Presentations, I would recommend just using powerpoint or a simpler type of presentation program.  It just needs a lot of touching up, not good for a school environment either considering it could fail at any moment when you are teaching it.
here is the link, I hope it works on your computer.  I had to take the music and the slide transitions off because it kept freezing or running super slow that I could not finish!!  Ugh very stressful for the last Emergent Technology!!

That's good to know. Too bad your final project had to be so frustrating. When you have to deal with so many obstacles it ends up taking twice as long. You still came through though and did a great job! Good luck for the rest of your schooling. Jenny
ReplyDeleteI agree, picking a bummer technology stinks for the last one! I used scrapblog and talked about how it was disappointing and I got a comment from them! Well, I wasn't trying to be a baby, I was just being honest about their HELP button not working and adding sound being a nightmare. You did a great job anyway! I always enjoy reading your blogs because you seem so positive and fun. I know you'll be a great teacher. Enjoy your summer!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tara. I'm the Customer Support & Training Manager here at SlideRocket. I'm sorry to hear you had a poor experience when creating your presentation. Please know we are always available to help you.
1. You can add audio to a whole presentation. Open it in the editor and go to File > Presentation Settings.
2. There are many features SlideRocket has that PowerPoint doesn't such as: the ability to record live audio in your presentation, Publish the presentation to a dynamically updating link, embed the presentation into a website or blog and have it automatically update when changes are saved, get real time statistics of who's viewing your presentation and what they're slides they watched, host live remote meetings, and much more. I'm happy to discuss the additional features with you at length if you'd like.
3. I'd like to get more information from you on how SlideRocket was slowing down your computer and see if this is still happening for you. I played your presentation without any issues.
Please feel free to reply via this blog post or email me directly tara at sliderocket dot com.
